The summer hype is dying down and school is starting back up, which can only lead to one thing… Autumn! We’ve got the inside scoop on this coming season’s hottest trends and frame styles, so get ready to take notes!
Classic shapes are still dominating the runways this year, with wayfarer, clubmaster, aviator, and cat-eyed shaped making a return from seasons past. Those of you looking for a worldly, laid back appeal will be pleased to know that chocolate browns, deep mochas, and a variety of earthy prints have made a big impact this season. Rugged wood textures and tortoise shell acetates showed up in both men’s and women’s frames this season, and were juxtaposed by leather and metal detailing to provide a natural yet refined style.
If browns and leathers are not really your style, don’t worry! Glam-azons can rejoice as high-energy colours and attention grabbing updates to classic shapes flourished on the runways. Men’s frames saw jewel toned acetates continue through from Spring to Fall, this time colour blocked with pops of bright neons. Women’s frames featured slim new futuristic shapes and sexy all-black acetates, complimented by pops of wild colours. Over-the-top embellishments and dramatic temple detailing have made a return from Spring in the form of chains, jewels, and metal accents.
Is bright and bold not your thing? Designers haven’t forgotten about those of us who prefer a more professional look, and this year’s collections are feeling very aristocratic. Men’s frames are all about clean profiles, simple shapes and neutral colours. Olive greens, muted navys, and an endless assortment of grays showed up all over the runways. Minimalist shapes and metal temple detailing are the must-have look for the modern businessman. Women’s glasses drew inspiration from more opulent roots, sporting over sized square and round shapes with jewelry-inspired detailing galore. Swooping arms and metal cutouts accented this seasons lavish new colour schemes, including honey yellows, cherry reds, and silky blacks.
With so many style options it can be difficult to choose just 1, kind of makes you wish had 3 or more, doesn’t it? 😉
